On Sunday, Pastor Ross preached on the story of David’s anointing in 1 Samuel 16. The “and” pairing he emphasized was sinner AND saint. David committed terrible sins AND he was a man after God’s own heart. Pastor Ross drew our attention to the fact that no matter what was going on in David’s life, whether in success or in struggle, sin and shame or dancing in the streets, David seeks the Lord and desires restored relationship with Him. We see evidence of this in the Psalms written by David, both joyful worship and thanksgiving, and wholehearted humility and repentance.
David was both sinner AND saint…and so are we. Let us, too, seek the Lord and desire restored relationship with Him in our success and in our struggle.
