It's fascinating to imagine Jesus as a 12 year old boy, as we read about him in Luke 2:41-52. It's fascinating because it reminds us that God Incarnate was also once a preteen, who startled his parents and also obeyed them.

Pastor Ross, in his message on Sunday, points out that this one story of Jesus' preteen life invites us to embrace the mystery of opposites united. God in human form; Jesus as both fully God and fully man simultaneously. "He is not either-or, he is both-and."

This idea can help us as we reflect on 2020...a year that held so much promise at its beginning, with even billboards about "2020 vision." But it turned out to be a year of polarizing thought and opinions, where just about everything felt like an "either-or" situation. Yet as we look back, perhaps we can see that we didn't, and still don't, know it all; perhaps many of those "either-or" moments could be actually "both-and" ones; perhaps we still have room to grow ourselves, for Jesus too "grew in wisdom and stature" says Luke 2:52. Watch or listen to the full service below.
